Sunny Sunday

After a vicious wind storm all day Saturday the sun is out and cheering us all up.  It isn't that warm out with temperatures around -5 Celsius.

Looking out the kitchen door I can see the shadow of the windmill.  Yesterday it was spinning so fast I'm surprised it didn't take off.  Thank goodness for frozen ground keeping it in place.

The sun is streaming in through the dining room window and casting lovely shadows on the wall  That is a wind chime that hangs in the window reflected onto the wall.

A little bit later and the sun has reached the china cupboard and is reflecting through the glass vase.  This is an old vase that was given to my parents at their wedding.  The bands of red and gold are reflected onto the wood of the cupboard.

Stop by Shadow Shot Sunday and Sunlit Sunday to see lots more interesting photos.

  2. Linda,

I had a few roof shingles in my backyard after all of the wind yesterday, but not from my roof. There was a bit of rain, as well, and the snow has disappeared here. Like at your place, the sun is shining today!

I like your shots, especially how the light shines through the lovely old vase. That's nice treasure to have.

Thanks for linking to "Sunlit Sunday"!

  5. That poor windmill must be exhausted after being forced into overdrive!
Your vase makes for a lovely reflection when the sun shines on it.

  10. You have some beautiful photography there. Love the reflection of the chimes. That is a prize you have there in that vase. We have some spinners in our garden too and they have been in constant motion this entire week. A lot of disaster here in Ky.

  11. Enjoying your pictures so much, you have taken some interesting shots Linda.
We had a complete change in the weather this morning, its really cold after having a mild snap. But that is how it is in the UK very unpredictable.

  12. Your indoor and outdoor views are enchanting! Love the colour of the dining room wall with its pattern of shadows and the kitchen stage for shadows is delightful with that beautiful jug! And how amazing that the storm bypassed your little windmill and the trees nearby! The scene is so lovely!

  15. Hello Linda girl !
You caught some great shadow shots here .. I always loved your windmill and YES !!! Thank god some of our garden art is frozen into the ground because that wind was something else ! .. we are lucky with our power .. didn't lose it ! phew ! .. and if we did the gas fireplace keeps pumping out heat so we would be OK on that front. But it truly was a wicked wind !
I love that vase ! .. so pretty and with such memories attached to it .. it cats a wonderful colourful shadow : )

  16. Hi Linda
That WAS some wind, wasn't it? Good thing your windmill didn't become airborne - it would have really flown! I'm glad we were home by the time it started, we lost our power for about a half hour too.
After seeing your blue watering ball in the plant, I've remembered I have one somewhere and must dig it out.
    Have a good week.

  17. Your red glass vase is a perfect match for a set of a decanter and glasses that was a wedding gift to my godmother in 1936. I've never seen anything else that matches it.
I love your shadow shot - so much like an Easter egg hanging from a branch.
