You could see the sun just rising above the trees

It became a big round orb in the sky Of course cameras really show up the glare it was giving off. But we knew it would be a lovely day.

As the sun streamed through the kitchen door it cast wonderful shadows of the garden decorations hanging on the little shelf. I had recently put away the snowpeople decorations. Here are those shadows if you missed them.
The above mosaic shows the sun shining through at two different times so that each side of the shelf cast its own shadows. I love how the star is reflecting the original colour. That star is actually a candle holder. I'll have to light it one day and see what sorts of shadows and reflections it casts.

In this photo you can see the reflection in the kitchen door as well. That was one of those unexpected captures that I saw when I looked at the photos.

How we enjoy those sunny days. Your spirit gets lifted, you feel like doing more and you know that spring is getting closer.
The photos cover a lot of different criteria to link up with Shadow Shot Sunday, Sunlit Sunday, Mosaic Monday and Weekend Reflections
Edit: It is just a couple of hours after I did this post, the snow has stopped, the sun is out and the snow has all melted away. Gotta love the sun when it does the job of clearing the paths and driveway for you.

I remember seeing your winter collection hanging from your shelf and enjoyed seeing the new seasonal grouping. The light through your star really is pretty as it glows on the wall and I love the reflection in your door. Thank you for linking to Sunlit Sunday, Linda. I hope you have a lovely day.

No snow here in Tennessee, but lots of COLD, steady rain today (Sunday). I bet your star will produce some fantastic shadow shots and reflections in the darkness.
ReplyDeleteI love those shadows casts by your hanging decors.

Hello Linda
ReplyDeleteThat's one thing we crave in the northern climate, sun during the winter. I'm happy to see you've captured some and I'll try to bring some home with me.

This has been such a flip floppy winter. LOL! The sunny days have been heavenly though Linda. The pictures of it coming into the room looks so cheerful. I love your glass star. I bet you made that. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteI love that term flip floppy, because that is certainly what it is. No I didn't make that star, stained glass is a craft I have never tried. It was a gift from a school I worked at.
DeleteLovely shots, what's sun?
ReplyDeleteBut seriously when we do get some we certainly do appreciate it.
Thanks for being a word verification free blog, it's beyond any of my patience to even try anymore to leave comments on those kind of blogs.

Can't stand the new word verification that Blogger has installed. One of my pet peeves is why bloggers need to have the word verification if they are going to approve the comments. I wrote about this a couple of years ago in this post ... a pet peeve of mine
DeleteBeautiful play of shadow and light on your kitchen feature! The last phto before the collage is particularly enchanting with the enigmatic, painterly reflection included!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda,

Great shadows from all the hanging decorations! I really love all your bird photos in your header. :)
ReplyDeleteI just love the sun from the southeast which comes into the back side of my house each day. Reflections and shadows are also some of my favorite photos. Just love this. So good to have your blog to visit. Blessings

ReplyDeleteI was happy to see your edit - you're right about the gift of the sun clearing away the snow from the drive. Out here it's the rain that does the job for us.

Joy
Hi Joy, yes, starting to think spring, and what better place to start that on the blog. We have doves sitting everywhere and enjoying the sun.
DeleteWhen you live in the South (Los Angeles), we take for granted counting the days for Spring. We have different blooms at different times of the year. I would like to do some rain dance for our wildflowers.
ReplyDeleteBut I do wish to be in the snow!
The reflection shot is fancy!
Enjoy the warmth of the sun!
Certainly lifts the spirit to see these sunny photos.
ReplyDeleteAhh, love your images! We've had a few days of snow and I'm thrilled! I live in northern Michigan and we have similar weather to you.
ReplyDeleteWe all smile a little more when that mystery sun shows up!!
Lovely photos of light and shade.
