Wintery Weather

Last Friday and Saturday we had some wintery weather.  I love to get outside just after a storm to take photos.  I used some of the icy photos to create the new header.

From the deck I took this photo of the honeysuckle bush and blue spruce tree in the back corner of the garden.  I also included this photo in the mosaic image below.

In the midst of a dull looking day the cardinal appeared with its brilliant red feathers.

He is usually a ground feeder but will frequent this feeder from time to time.  January is coming to a close, which means two more months of winter (according to the calendar).

Have a great Mosaic Monday. Visit Mary's blog and see some other wonderful mosaic creations. I'm also linking with Tuesday Tweets.

Thanks for visiting.

  1. Linda I really love that header (I just can't help but keep saying it ? LOL)
The snow pictures are pretty .. even if I have to complain about the ice rink in my back garden .. but I am still blown away by that poor robin ! How on earth does it survive ? Do they eat seed ? They must have to with no bugs out and about. I love the way your spruce looks .. if I had room I would really want a Blue spruce .. they are so pretty !
    Joy : )

    1. The robins will eat seeds at this time of year. I've seen them in the sumac bushes.

  3. Linda, this is a beautiful mosaic of photos. I love the pop of turquoise and red with the mostly white and gray snow scenes. How nice to see a cardinal at the feeder. I have only seen a female cardinal here once but I guess there are males and females around the area. Great photos! Pamela

  12. Such gorgeous photos! The one thing that kept running through my mind was, these would make great cards, maybe even holiday cards. Love your blog.

  13. Great photos of a fleeting snow. What a strange winter we're having. It's only 9 AM and it's 6C already!
The cardinals that frequent our yard come mostly to the feeders. I think the squirrels get all the food on the ground!

  14. Love your new header pictures. We have had no winter not even one good freeze to kill off the mosquito's.
The frozen water behind the honeysuckle bush and blue spruce with that little bit of blue on the feeder sure made for a pretty picture..
hugs from Savannah.. have a wonderful week..

  15. I love your icy winter blog header...beautiful! I have been trying to think of a way to have a different header for each season and still incorporate a butterfly, but I have not found a way to do that yet. This weather is strange...going from 60 degrees F one day and freezing ice storms the next. I have seen the cardinals at the feeders a few times...I would love to get a photo of them...keep missing them.

  16. Linda I had to stop by again and say we actually had Goldfinches at the globe seed feeder .. competing with the Chickadees in fact.
I have never seen a Goldfinch this early in the year .. I did think I heard them a few days ago .. but WOW ! to see them was a shock !
