From the deck I took this photo of the honeysuckle bush and blue spruce tree in the back corner of the garden. I also included this photo in the mosaic image below.

In the midst of a dull looking day the cardinal appeared with its brilliant red feathers.

He is usually a ground feeder but will frequent this feeder from time to time. January is coming to a close, which means two more months of winter (according to the calendar).
Have a great Mosaic Monday. Visit Mary's blog and see some other wonderful mosaic creations. I'm also linking with Tuesday Tweets.
Thanks for visiting.

Linda I really love that header (I just can't help but keep saying it ? LOL)
ReplyDeleteThe snow pictures are pretty .. even if I have to complain about the ice rink in my back garden .. but I am still blown away by that poor robin ! How on earth does it survive ? Do they eat seed ? They must have to with no bugs out and about. I love the way your spruce looks .. if I had room I would really want a Blue spruce .. they are so pretty !
Joy : )
The robins will eat seeds at this time of year. I've seen them in the sumac bushes.
DeleteAren't mosaics fun. I did one too but didn't even remember it was Monday...Chilly wintry photos Linda with a bit of added spice in the shape of the Cardinal bird.
ReplyDeleteI love creating mosaics, and them long before I realized there was a link party called Mosaic Monday. Thanks for visiting.
DeleteLinda, this is a beautiful mosaic of photos. I love the pop of turquoise and red with the mostly white and gray snow scenes. How nice to see a cardinal at the feeder. I have only seen a female cardinal here once but I guess there are males and females around the area. Great photos! Pamela
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the male cardinals are there somewhere Pamela. We can have up to 3 pair in the garden sometimes. Our favourite bird!!
DeleteBeautiful images. I love the cardinal in the midst of it all being so cheery and bright. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful birds....but oh, it sure looks cold at your house! Stay warm....stay inside! ♥
ReplyDeleteLove the little visitors, what gorgeous birds! Even in all that chilly snow they still look happy and content in your garden. Also, I just wanted to let you know, I love your blog and have awarded you with the Versatile Blogger Award over at my blog!! Thanks for the great read, I sure do enjoy your posts! Cheers Julia xx
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL photos!!
ReplyDeleteThe wintry pictures are brought to life by that gorgeous red cardinal. Send him over! I was given a belated Christmas gift yesterday, a bird feeder, and it will be up and ready tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteLucky you, a new bird feeder. Take some photos so we can all see it.
DeleteBeautiful photos of your visitors. It is snowing here as I type.
ReplyDeleteWe are supposed to be getting snow this evening and overnight. Oh well, what can we do but complain.
DeleteVery nice shot of the cardinal. Thanks for participating in this weeks Tuesday Tweets.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by to comment on my reflection photo this week. I too like the cardinal. Nothing like a bright spot of colour this time of year. - Margy
ReplyDeleteI like your mosaic -- the red cardinal really stands out. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous photos! The one thing that kept running through my mind was, these would make great cards, maybe even holiday cards. Love your blog.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of a fleeting snow. What a strange winter we're having. It's only 9 AM and it's 6C already!
ReplyDeleteThe cardinals that frequent our yard come mostly to the feeders. I think the squirrels get all the food on the ground!
Love your new header pictures. We have had no winter not even one good freeze to kill off the mosquito's.
ReplyDeleteThe frozen water behind the honeysuckle bush and blue spruce with that little bit of blue on the feeder sure made for a pretty picture..
hugs from Savannah.. have a wonderful week..
I love your icy winter blog header...beautiful! I have been trying to think of a way to have a different header for each season and still incorporate a butterfly, but I have not found a way to do that yet. This weather is strange...going from 60 degrees F one day and freezing ice storms the next. I have seen the cardinals at the feeders a few times...I would love to get a photo of them...keep missing them.
ReplyDeleteKeep trying to get a photo.
DeleteLinda I had to stop by again and say we actually had Goldfinches at the globe seed feeder .. competing with the Chickadees in fact.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a Goldfinch this early in the year .. I did think I heard them a few days ago .. but WOW ! to see them was a shock !
Joy
Maybe because we are in the country Joy, but we get goldfinches visit the garden all year round. So glad you got them at your new feeder
DeleteHello Crafty Gardener!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not the only Crazy Canuck that runs outside with a camera after a snow storm! Beautiful pix and wasn't the cardinal a lovely surprise!
