Ice rain blanketed our area overnight and turned the trees sparkly creations. It's a day when I'm glad to be retired and not have had to chip ice from vehicles and drive on very slick roads.

I've been able to just enjoy the weather by going outside with the camera and taking lots of photos.

The ice rain continued this morning before changing over to a bit of snow.

The lilac buds are encased in ice. As I walked around the garden I could hear the cracking of the ice as the trees moved a bit in the breeze. The icicles are beginning to melt as the temperature warms up a bit.

I could hear the birds chirping, but there is no way they were coming to the feeders. The sun isn't coming out so I think I'll have to go back out and chip away the ice and icicles from the feeders. Our lens friends have to be able to get their food, else they won't be posing for any more photos for me. Thanks for stopping by today.

Ice rain makes for lovely photos ...but oh so hard on everything else! We had our first substantial snow last night too...with a small about of ice first. Made for bad roads this morning.
ReplyDeletegorgeous pictures, Linda. We haven't got snow yet and did not get the freezing rain. But snow is forecast for tonight here in Tillsonburg.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda - I was wondering whether your winter had arrived up north as we were hit with a blazing hot summers day - the first real scorcher of the season, yesterday. Your photos are lovely, I especially like the one with the icicles on the feeder. How sweet of you to chip away the ice for your birdies! - Stay warm!!
ReplyDeleteAlthough it's cold there is so much beauty created. Your photos have captured this so well.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos! We are waiting to see what happens tonight. We had wet snow on and off today, and now rain.
ReplyDeleteThis blog seems to me very enlightening and interesting, thanks for sharing

How beautiful winter can be! We, too, have had winter-like temperatures today, and the forecast is for more. Although the warmer temperatures are nice, it is nice to experience some winter in winter. I enjoyed your photos of the icy winter scenes.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, your ice pictures! So nice you didn't have to get out and drive in all of that mess. I'm struggling, trying to lure more birds to our feeders. Only finches and juncos for 5 years!
ReplyDeleteThanks again for the tip about the messages, I have so much to learn!
The ice rain creates fantastic sculpture!!
ReplyDeleteWe rarely have snow here in Tokyo,Japan.

It's certainly been a up and down roller coaster of temperatures all over. But at least you got great shots.
