The little shelf in the kitchen is right by the door. The top holds a collection of watering cans (which can't be seen) and during January I have snowman decorations hanging on the pegs. These are the only winter themed decorations I have up. There are also three cardinal bird ornaments that I keep up all year round, as cardinals are my favourite bird. The sun created wonderful shadows of the snowman decorations. Just to the right of the cardinal shadow is actually a shadow of a dragonfly that is suctioned onto the door window. It was the bonus shadow in the photo as really didn't notice it when taking the photo.
Can shadows be sunny? Well you do need the sun to create the shadows. You certainly can see evidence of the sun in my photo. You just can't have one without the other. I'm linking in with two places, one that looks at the shadows and one that relies on the sun - Shadow Shot Sunday and Sunlit Sunday.
We have had dull and dreary days for the past two days due to the winter storm that was in our area. Today that storm system has moved out towards the Maritimes and the sun is shining. I hope you are having a sunny day where you are.

The shadows are certainly crisp - something you don't get without a good light. The dragonfly shadow makes it look at if a hummingbirds is hanging around.
ReplyDeleteDelightful shadow shots for the day and such brilliant sunlight!! You have to be enjoying that! Hope you enjoy a lovely and warm weekend!!

we must have been under the same weather cloud. a month of snow landed in two days...but sun found it's way today. nice shadow shot for today!! stay warm!!
ReplyDeleteSunlight and shadows are indeed a team. I like how the dragonfly shadow looks like it is flitting by the winter decorations and how even the curly wire shadows are so clear. Thank you for joining in with Sunlit Sunday this weekend!

Gasp!!! I love this-what a wonderful treat to see in the morning. It's the kind of thing that can keep you humming happy tunes all day long...
ReplyDeleteI love shadows too. I love your little touch of winter with the snowmen! Wish we got cardinals here on Vancouver Island. We also do not get the eastern Blue Jay, but we get the Stellar's Jay - more black with the blue, but the same noisy behaviour.
ReplyDeleteWe got a wee touch of winter last evening, but the snow is out now and it will soon be gone.
We live in the "Shadow" of Mt. Washington, the ski hill that often boasts of the highest snow base in the world. However, we mainly get rain here in the Valley. We have had a very mild winter so far, and I think you have too!
Let's hope for more wall shadows! Peg
We were visiting Vancouver Island in November 2011 and I captured some wonderful photos of the Stellar Jays. They got their first snowfall on November 17 while we were there.
DeleteIt's great to see the sun after the dull cloudy days.
ReplyDeleteOur weather has been so weird this winter! Today was in the 40's, tomorrow it's supposede to be in the 60's and then the 50's on Monday. Tuesday will be a cold day in the 30's.
ReplyDeleteWe'll all have colds frome this crazy weather.
Melinda

ReplyDeleteHi Linda
ReplyDeletePretty darn cold here right now, was -18C yesterday morning as I headed to the TBG for the day. Too cold to even walk the dog.
Your little snowmen shadows are cute and the dragonfly looks like it's hovering in the air.
I'd like to see the watering cans on the shelf above.
Judith
In another post I'll be sure to include the watering cans.
DeleteNothing like a nice, warm, sunny day to relax and enjoy. It makes for nice shadows as well.

ReplyDeleteNice sunny shot for a cold winter's day. It's still cold here today -6C, but the sun is shining and I'm painting, so all is well.

Creative one. Happy SSS!
ReplyDeleteI love your shadow shot! The shadows almost have personalities of their own - I'm seeing faces, and maybe a witch flying on her broom?
ReplyDeleteYes, I think shadows can be sunny. I love that you got that bonus shot of the dragonfly ornament shadow!
ReplyDeletesuch a cool shot. Love it. :)
ReplyDeleteI like your shelf and hanging decorations. Yes, I think shadows can be sunny. I especially fond of sunny weekend mornings. On Sundays, I like to sit in our dining room where morning sunlight comes pouring in.There is nothing better than a relaxed, hearty breakfast, good coffee and the weekend newspaper.
ReplyDeleteNo, very dreary and dull today and needing lights on all day. Had 3 lovely sunny days previous though.
ReplyDeleteShadows can make great photos.
