I know that many gardeners don't like squirrels but we get great amusement and enjoyment watching their antics.

Yes, I curse them sometimes, but overall I enjoy them. They are wonderful lens friends.

Thanks for the call out! I have a photo almost identical to the one you have with the squirrel hanging onto the pole. He was hanging on by one toe. Amazing. But what he did was take the whole suet feeder with him. How I don't know, but he got it to the fence and could not lift it all the way up and over. So he sat there and finished off the suet until it was gone. That is something else I have no clue how they do it. Where do they put it all. I know they are chubby, but what an appetite. Your pictures are so cute and really show them in all their creative glory. Where there is a will, there is a way, must be their motto.
ReplyDeleteWe had a suet feeder vanish one year, looked all over for it but never found it. Bet one of those rascally squirrels took it off somewhere.
Deletei really enjoyed your photos!
ReplyDeletelook heavenly! great collage, too.
i love your blog!
Thanks for visiting.
DeleteSuch cute shots of this critter!
ReplyDeletethanks for stopping by for Camera Critters
ReplyDeleteSuch great shots. I love squirrels and I didn't know there was an appreciation day. If I had known, I would have gone to the gardens and brought some treats for them. They have cute personalities and are so animated. I really enjoyed this post.
ReplyDeleteI visit intermittently. None the less, I'd got the impression that here, on your blog, every day is Squirrel Appreciation Day!
ReplyDeleteHiLucy, yes following the label squirrels it shows that I love taking photos of them.
Deleteeveryday is squirrel appreciation day in this house with our beagle cross Molly!!!!

Hi Linda
ReplyDeleteI feel the same about the squirrels and there are usually 6 at a time in our backyard. Someone visiting me recently looked out the window into the backyard and couldn't believe how big and fat our squirrels are - well fed, I say! How can you not throw a peanut out to a big-eyed squirrel sitting on the window ledge in hopes of a treat?
I like your new header, it glistens.
Judith
Hi Judith, we put peanuts out for the squirrels too. The pictures in the header were taken yesterday after the ice rain storm. Today it is snowing a lot, rather like being in a snow globe. I'm counting down till spring :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for appreciating our little furry friends. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteWe dont get grey squirrels Linda but we do get the protected red squirrel.
ReplyDeleteAgile little critters, aren't they? I like watching them scurry across the back fence, hopping over the finials.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had Squirrels in my garden I just love to see them play. fantastic photos.
ReplyDeleteLinda girl !!
ReplyDeleteI love your new header !! How did you make it ? what program did you use ? I think I may have to get Photoshop to use another site's tutorial on textures with photos Kim Klassen Kafe .. I have her on my Canadian blog roll (I wanted to have a Canadian one to itself .. trying to gather more Canuck gardeners !
You won't believe it but we had a Robin in our tree this morning making quite a rukus !!
Way too early for them .. he must have gotten lost some where ? haha
The chickadees finally figured out how to get in that new feeder .. husband and I love watching them .. they are lightening fast !
Great shots of that little devil ! haha
Joy
Joy I use Picasa (for Mac) to create the collage images. You can download it for free. I used to use Photoshop all the time but don't have a compatible version for the iMac. Glad you added a Canadian blog roll. I've had one for ages and have a page dedicated to it called Canada Blog Hop. I also keep some of my most favourites at the bottom of my blog, one for Ontario, one for Canada and one for the rest of the world. Wow a robin, that is early. Perhaps the poor little guy got blown in with the snow storm today. That is great the chickadees figured out your new feeder. I was contemplating one like that.
DeleteMy brother in law hates squirrels, but I just love these little furry creatures!
ReplyDeleteIt's a love hate relationship with squirrels isn't it?
ReplyDeleteLovely squirrel photos. Great to watch them in the garden jumping from tree to tree.
ReplyDeletepoor squirrel all covered with snow. rummaging the birds food for survival. pretty great shots
ReplyDeleteCool pictures~
ReplyDeleteThe squirrels are certainly opportunists and empty the bird feeders, but they're so cute and fun to watch! Nice shots!
ReplyDeleteAnd they are quite the accrobats too! Great shots of this active fella. I like your new header pictures. Pretty.
ReplyDeleteHardworking squirrels.

Fantastic shots! I love the one holding what looks like a peanut. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteThose squirrels are so cute!! I think they are such cool little creatures. On my first trip to North America, I took lots of photos of the squirrels I found because I was so excited to finally see one!
ReplyDeleteThe little devils are so cute even when being destructive. I enjoy then in small numbers.
ReplyDeleteHaHa, great captures of the squirrels. I agree with Jodi above, they are little devils. I do know they appreciate all my bird seed. Thansk for sharing, happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know there was such a day either until I read about it on the National Wildlife Federation's website. Nice shots.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos.
