My blog, like life, is a mixture of all sorts of things . . . gardening, nature, crafts and photography. Right now it's the time of year when the focus is more on the non-gardening things I love to do. But I'm always thinking and dreaming of gardening.

Critter Shadows

One of the days we were visiting Vancouver Island we visited Fisherman's Wharf.  This is a delightful place to visit.  The last time we visited was in the summer of 2008 and the Wharf was bustling with tourists.  This time it was a very sunny, but chilly day in November 2011. You can walk the docks and view the float homes and see the seals and ducks.

Here is my shadow trying to capture some photos of these lens friends.

We came across this sord of ducks.  A sord is a group of ducks on the ground.  A flock is a group of ducks in the air.  I think the water was too cold for them and they were enjoying the warmth in the sun on the dock. The male mallards have gorgeous colouring.

The female has lovely markings and patterns on her feathers.

These lens friends are perfect to share with Camera Critters and Shadow Shot Sunday.

It isn't very sunny here today and it is rather chilly.  The temperatures are supposed to rise to +5 Celsius which will help melt the ice rain we had overnight.  Christmas is being packed away in boxes for another year so that everything will be clean, fresh and tidy for 2012. We are not revellers for New Years but enjoy a quiet, peaceful evening at home.
Have a great weekend.

  1. Hi Linda

I so enjoy your photos of wildlife. Hope you are having a wonderful New Years Eve day and that the weather holds out. We are in the midst of fog soup but are hoping it stays clear enough for a fire outside tonight.

  6. Ontario ducks are just as friendly as BC ducks Judith. They create shadows that are just as ducky!

Hi Heather, hope the fog clears for your New Years fire.

Happy New Year to all of you. Thanks for stopping by.
