Busy Hands

I've been keeping my hands busy with some crochet and some knitting.
I made a little crochet blanket and pillow for our granddaughter to use with her doll which she calls Baby.

This isn't her doll but belonged to her aunt.   It lives at our house and granddaughter plays with it when she visits.   It was just a simple pattern I created out of some left over yarn.

Then I made a pair of mittens out of some stash yarn for our grandson.   I did the ribbing a bit longer so that it can stayed tucked inside the coat sleeves.  I'll probably be making more of these in the next few weeks as we all know how little boys can go through mittens.  The pattern is from Bev's Country Cottage and it's called 2 needle knit mittens for kids.

Both projects were simple do do and were finished in a couple of days.  I've added them to my Ravelry site.   I've also got a pair of socks on the go, in fact I started them on the train ride home from out west.

I'm sharing the collage/mosaic image with Mosaic Monday.
What are you doing to keep busy now that the colder weather is setting in?

  1. When I was teaching, I used to ask the occasional child who was wearing something handknit, "Who loves you and made that ___________?" What nice items you've created. ❄

  2. The little dolls blanket is so sweet. The two needled mittens is the only ones I know to make. Very pretty mosaic of your handiwork. V

  5. Hi Linda, that's so pretty! I used to knit before, but stopped years ago. Most of my creativity gets poured into my laptop these days. What am I doing to keep busy these days? Well, I am still gardening! Have been outside today, in a chilly 8 degrees, but I am also working on my book number 5, with roses from my garden. Not sure when it will be finished, but it will certainly be announced on my blog :-)
    Take care,
    Helene

  9. Such sweet things - I'll bet they are much appreciated by the children's parents. I remember how thrilled I'd always be when someone knit for my little ones.

  11. How cute! I started crocheting a blanket for my daughter before she was born, and she's now 2! I really have to get on that! Gardening and blogging have distracted me somewhat :) Now I am working on several photo projects for Christmas gifts.
