Sharing the Garden

I love to share my garden.  I share numerous photos on my blog, I share with family and friends and I share by giving away plants.
Over the past couple of weeks and probably for a couple more I am sharing those volunteer plants, sections of plants that get very large,  and extra plants that fill the garden.

I belong to a local Freecycle group and I give away all my extra plants that way. You wouldn't believe the number of emails I get asking for them when I post some. I frequently don't have time to reply to all of the folks so just post a thank you to everyone that asked about them when I post they are taken
I've met many wonderful gardeners this way and I know that my plants are being well looked after and growing in some of the best gardens around. One lot of my plants went into the gardens at the new YMCA in Trenton.  In another post I'll tell you about a lovely lady I met this weekend who had something to share back with me.

I bet you share your garden with friends and neighbours, don't you?

I'm sharing with Mosaic Monday today.

  1. What a wonderful way to share your plants with others and make new friends too. I usually put mine in the spring or fall plant sale of my Horticulture Society. V

  2. Linda you do show what I find so true gardeners are a sharing group whether it is knowledge or if one is lucky enough to live close, with plants. Lucky are the ones you get to share with.

  3. I'll be sharing some plants with a friend who's in her new-to-her home and one or two others. The Freecycle idea is a really good one!

  5. What a wonderful idea! And a great way to meet other gardeners. You have demonstrated what I've learned: gardeners are some of the most generous people.

  7. That's a great way to meet other gardeners, and to ensure that the plants live on and give even more pleasure.

  8. Oh I love this idea. Here our version of freecycle is just dumping on the curb. And then people pick it up and rehome it. Much better then tossing it into the garbage.

Too bad we don't live closer.

  10. Hi Linda. Yip we share and share. Amazing that gardeners all hace this beautiful pay it forward attitude. I am a bit weird and will often stop at a great garden and knock on the door know knowing the person, ask to look around their garden and come away with an armful of cuttings! And a new garden buddy to boot!

  11. I use Freecycle as well...such a wonderful resource. I have given away broken things, old things, and, of course, plants. And the people are great!
