This week the word is illumination and if you choose to participate you do a blog post about what it means to you. It's the perfect way to show off more of my garden photos.

This rose is illuminated in the sunlight. The top part of the rose looks lighter in colour because of the light. The light also creates shadows under one of the petals.

The morning light sparkles on the dew drops on the rose. The edges of the petals are illuminated and you can see the curl of the petals more clearly.

The sunlight illuminates the top petals and gives the feeling that you can look through them.
Donna, from Garden Walk, Garden Talk, and who visits my blog on a fairly regular basis has started Word for Wednesday. Please pop over and see her gorgeous photos and take a look at what others are sharing. They are all very illuminating.
Remember, the more you look, the more you see.

I see there is another fan of shadows and sparkles out there. I always feel funny heralding sparkles because in photography classes so long ago, I was told no distracting glares or sparkles. It draws your attention away from the meat of the image. Well, that is one directive I always ignored, right or wrong, I like them. The raindrop sparkles give your rose a whole different feel and that says illumination to me. Takes me into the image in my own way of interpretation. BTW, I have word of the day too on my Mac, and most people already know I am more pictures than words on the blog. But I do love words and I like your play of words above. Very creative. Thank you for 'playing along with Illumination'. Add a word we can do in a future post, even one of your invented ones. It would be fun to see what others come up with.
ReplyDeleteDear Linda, I love the words you created -- so clever (crafty). Your pictures so beautifully illustrate Donna's word of the day. Well done. P. x
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful photos! I love the raindrops! Your words are so very clever!
ReplyDeleteThis has been a great word for displaying some stunning images. Yours are very good. Christina
ReplyDeleteThe roses looks so delicate and pretty with the light on them. I love this meme, too. Thank you for stopping my blog.
ReplyDeleteI like your words...very nice! And your illumination images are gorgeous! My favorite is the illuminated closed rose.
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, those roses are gorgeous! I used to have roses and finally gave up on them because they always had black spot and lost their leaves. I drool over others' beautiful rose bushes and wonder how they manage to keep them looking so wonderful. I too am a lover of light (illumination) and shadow. :) A wonderful post.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the way those dew drops illuminate in the sunlight! Like magic fairy dust!
ReplyDeleteLinda, I'm illuminated. Thanks for stopping by. Hey, the maple is very illuminating on your background. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteLinda, your photos are beautiful!! LOVE the third one. Stunning!
ReplyDeletePretty roses! Love the dew drops :)
ReplyDeleteYour visuals for the word 'illumination' are perfect. I love the way sunlight catches on rose petals and makes raindrops glisten like jewels.
ReplyDeleteDonna is successful in getting lots of creativity with the Word for Wednesday meme, and you are really crafty! I hope i am illuminated enough with all the posts!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the first one, the rose bud. The way the shadows fall, it reminds me of looking at the Earth from outer space and how you see the terminus of the shadow cast by the sun pass over it. But the true beauty for me is in the petals of the bud, detail shown by illumination. It makes a statement. I love the others as well, but I just think the first one speaks to me more.
ReplyDeleteOh crafty one,
ReplyDeleteBig thumbs up on the third image. It's like a cup of light is holding up the bud. Very nice.
These shots of roses are spectacular. Love them!
