We've been taking some daycations this summer. On one of these days we travelled north to a small town with a population of 20. I learned about the town of Ormsby from one of the free magazines published to promote the area. There is a wonderful old store there in the original village store and it was chock full of treasures of all sorts. Of course you have to bring souveniers back from daycations just like you do from vacations.
I found this adorable teapot and cup for one. I know you are thinking - don't you already have lots of those, especially if you are a regular reader of my blog. My collection of teapots for one is increasing.
To see some of my other teapots for one, click the label at the end of the post.

But I just couldn't resist it. It stands about 14 cm. tall and is fine porcelain by Royal Elfleda designed by Allison LL. It's not one I've heard of before and I know it isn't worth a fortune but it's cute and adorable.
In the mosaic image you can also see the tablecloth that I have finished restoring. This was originally embroidered by my Mother but over the years the threads were wearing away. So I patiently removed the damaged threads and then replaced the embroidery. It was very relaxing to do while sitting in the garden and To see when I started this project click the label embroidery at the end of this post. I'm wondering why I don't do more embroidery.
I'm joining in with Mosaic Monday and Tea Time Tuesday.

Linda What a nice find on your daycation. Love the teapot and cup, something a bit unusual from your collection. A great idea to take the tablecloth of your Mom's and redo it,a wonderful keepsake and memory ..... Enjoy the rest of your day.

Hi, what a cute little teapot. I need a daycation. I had one in mind for a while down to Devon or Cornwall. Now you have inspired me to get on and go. Oh and by the way lovely tablecloth.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda
ReplyDeleteThe petite tea for one set is sweet and like you, I like to pick up things that appeal to me. You're lucky you can do embroidery and fixed your mom's cloth, now it will last for the next generation.

ReplyDeleteHi Linda, my Canadian tea friend,
ReplyDeleteBefore I comment on your adorable little tea for one set, I must tell you that I adore your header picture of the little feathered friend among the berries; such a sweet photo!
Hubby and I have been taking all kinds of Daycations this holiday although we are heading over to NB this week to visit my family. I like the term, 'Daycation.' Your little treasure you found is simply adorable! I don't blame you a bit. I wouldn't have left it behind either. It's just too cute! The tablecloth is very pretty and lovely to have for future generations. Thank you for joining me for tea and have a wonderful week.
Blessings,
Sandi

I love the idea of spending time restoring something worked by your mother's hands - restful, time for thought and a connection to your past.
ReplyDeletethe teapot is adorable. it would have been nice if you'd make pics before and after the restoration of the tablecloth. anyway, congrats for it and for your passions.
ReplyDeleteChristina, if you click the label embroidery you will see the before photos of the restoration, I posted about it awhile ago so my regular visitors could see what I was doing
