Tidying Up

Have you got the floppies? I love that word and first read it on Janet's blog, Planticru notes, where she talked about the floppies she had in her garden. I sure have the floppies in my garden, and after lots of dry heat and then torrents of rain, it was time to tidy up the garden a bit.

A lot of my floppies are coreopsis, heliopsis and black eyed Susans.  There was also a large clump of chrysanthemums which weren't getting enough sun.  They were flopping over other plants and depriving them of the daylight.

There is also the huge clump of heliopsis that needs deadheading.
So I took those floppies I trimmed down and put them all in a bucket and sat it on the bench at the end of the driveway to give a dull spot a shot of colour. I also need to do some weeding.  That is something I haven't done a lot of this season due to my knee surgery.  But now I'm able to bend down more, and so with the help of my trusty stool and some garden gloves I'm tackling the weeds and grass that are popping up in the garden beds.

So no more blogging, back to tidying up.
Have you started to tidy up your garden yet?

  2. I try to spend a an hour a day walking the garden, deadheading flowers and pruning here and there. You reminded me though that my roses are in need of some cutting!

  4. Hi Linda: I know what you mean by the flopsies. Got a few of them myself. I spent all last weekend pulling weeds and cutting back. I have a huge pile in my wheelbarrow that needs to go in the garden waste bags. Don't want to compost the weeds. V

  5. Yup, I have the floppies, too! I've been spending some time outside cleaning up around the garden...mostly deadheading and pruning. The weeds weren't that bad this year; I have no idea why, but I'm thankful for it!

  8. The Floppies, love it!! I do not have Black Eyed Susans, or Coreopsis or the likes... But if having a garden full of weedy junk, that needs to go in the compost counts, that's me!!!! lol...

  9. Hi Linda
Yes, I have many, many floppies! There's not many flowers left but the ones in my baskets.
It was only 58 here and very windy off the lake. So all the flowers got a good beating today too.
    Take care-Kimberly

  10. Yep. I have floppies in my garden too. My zinnias are flopping over my portulaca and my Mexican heather.
