I found some old sheer net curtains that used to be in the living room, trimmed them, shortened them, and added velcro loops to the top. I recently purchased a new sewing machine and they made up really quickly.

And now I have a nice shady spot to sit, read and enjoy a refreshing drink like a peach smoothie. You can still see the shadows cast by the sun, but the comfy chairs are basked in shade. In the late afternoon the sun goes to the other side of the screen gazebo and it is easy to move the curtain from one side to the other.

Linda what a welcoming corner to sit and relax. Do you have room for one more?
ReplyDeleteI like your idea for the nets you have saved some pennies there.
Enjoy your moment.
best wishes Julie.C
Hi Veroncia, thanks for stopping by and exploring my blog. Hope you visit again.
ReplyDeleteJulie, there is always room for one more, we can sit and knit and enjoy a peach smoothie.
Linda, add another seat for me. I'll even dig out the knitting needles just for you and a smoothie...
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a very cozy place to relax.
ReplyDeleteI like the curtain idea. I'm sure it to block the sun, but it makes it look homier too.
I do love my smooties, as well!
Dear Linda, I really should stop by your blog more often. You have such wonderful crafty ideas. Everyone needs a shady retreat -- yours is lovely. P. x
ReplyDeletelooks like a really nice shady place to sit and read
ReplyDeleteOh what a beautiful spot - I love how you have brought your garden inside or is it the other way round? Lovely shadow shots!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda
ReplyDeleteI'm envious of your cozy and shady retreat on the deck. We haven't erected a gazebo on our deck because every year hubby talks about covering it over for shade...one of these days.
The peach smoothy looks yummy.
Judith
This is our first year with a gazebo on the deck Judith. Finally they made one that was 8x8 that fit our deck. It is lovely and gives shade most of the day. Today we had a brief shower and we could sit in there and listen to the raindrops on the roof of the gazebo and enjoy the breeze the rain bought with it.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! Good solution to the problem!
ReplyDeleteI've never had a peach smoothie, it looks tasty!
ReplyDeleteMy share of shadow, please come and see.
I love your gazebo on the deck! The curtain sure made a big difference too. That fruit smoothie sounds yummy. Thanks for sharing the recipe. Now, I just need a blender! ;-) Pamela
ReplyDeleteWhat a cozy little place! You're very talented!
ReplyDeleteIF I HAD A SHADOW
If I had a shadow as big as the sky,
I never would fear, and I’ll tell you why:
My shadow would save me from dragons and things
That fly in the night with terrible wings;
My shadow would keep me away from the beast
That sniffs in the west and sniffs in the east
Hungry for children who play all alone,
Hoping to feast upon blood, upon bone;
My shadow would be my protector and knight
To keep fear at bay, to banish all fright.
I’m so glad my shadow is always nearby,
Though it’s not nearly as big as the sky!

Hey Crafty. Looks like you have created a perfect place to hang out on a hot day. Enjoy it because the winters are long.
ReplyDeleteI want the drink too...happy SSS!
ReplyDeleteWhat a good idea, using the sheers. Such and inviting spot!
ReplyDeletethe gazebo is so lovely and the curtains are a fantastic idea
ReplyDeleteLooks like a perfect spot.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visit iheartbees. I enjoyed your post and amen to the cooling days. It is raining here in NY and this is refreshing. Peach smoothies are great. We have peach trees on the farm and they are tasty fresh picked.
ReplyDeleteHow smart to make curtains for that side. Now you can look out and still have shelter from the sun's rays. I like your new room a lot, and the smoothie looks quite refreshing. I can imagine you will get lots and lots of use from your new 'shade' room.
ReplyDeleteLinda a lovely spot to sip a smoothie .
ReplyDeleteI love your sun room. It looks like a lovely place to sit and enjoy the sunshine, shadows and a Peach smoothie. Yum!
ReplyDeleteVery nice shadow shots.
ReplyDeleteRegards!
So much nicer to sit in the shade--good idea to make it a little shadier and cooler. The peach smoothie sounds delicious. Summer is wonderful when all those fresh fruits are readily available. Have a nice day. Mickie :)
ReplyDeleteYour words and photos made me feel I was there! Lovely.
