An Historical Daycation

One day last week we took the grandchildren on a daycation to the National Air Force Museum at CFB Trenton. The day was steeped in Canadian history.  Our grandson loves planes and loved following the path through the outside display.  He kept saying "Take of picture of this one Granny."  Our granddaughter loved seeing all the planes and trying to do what her big brother did, like running under the planes and hiding behind the wheels.

He loved the small models set up inside and his favourite plane was one that he could climb into and pretend to fly. I'm sure the grandchildren did not understand the true significance of the museum but we will take them there again when they are older.  Naturally there was a trip to the gift store so they could both have an airplane souvenier to take home to play with.

It was a wonderful sunny day and there are lots of shadows of the planes so I'm joining in with Shadow Shot Sunday. I'm sharing just a few of the photos with Mosaic Monday.

  2. Sounds like you had a great day out with the grandkids in Trenton. We visited the war museum in Ottawa a few years back and love how its steeped with our history and the roles we played in all the worlds. Sweet pics. Diane

  3. We were at the Ottawa museum several years ago as well Diane. We live quite close to CFB Trenton and can see and hear some of the planes going overhead.

HI Val, the kids had a great time and so did their Grandad.

  13. I bet the kids liked the planes. Kids and planes go hand in hand. They just marvel at them. The air show is big with kids here. It had to be a fun day for you with their enthusiasm.

  14. I'd like to visit the museum one day. Most of my life, from aged 2 through over 40, was spent on Air Force bases. I've flown out of Trenton more times than I can recall.
