Colours and Patterns

Coleous is an annual plant that I have to have in my shade garden every year.  The colourful leaves always fascinate me with their wonderful patterns.

The varying shades of greens, reds, purples, creams, and beiges always put on a pleasing show for the eyes.

They thrive in large clay pots  in the north facing shade garden at the front of the house ... as do my boot planters

Here is my shady pot garden with coleous and white impatience.

It's that time of the week for Cottage Floral Thursday  and Fertilizer Friday.

Take time to enjoy the garden today.

  1. Oh my! I love Coleous in your garden pots! I tried planting these in the garden one year, but they didn't survive! I don't know what i did wrong, but i spent so much money on them thinking they'd give me gorgeous color in the garden & have never tried again. Thanks for sharing your post at Cottage Flora Thursday's! I certainly enjoyed seeing yours! xoxo, tracie

  2. Hi Linda
I rarely ever grow coleus or many annuals for that matter. I like how you have the chair set up for a pretty vignette - nice butterfly!

  3. I never knew there a
were so many varieties of coleous to chose from.
They look so nice all potted together. I usually use them as an accent plant, but I do like them this way too!

  5. I particularly like the hanging forms of coleus an use them in window boxes. Your semps in the shoes have caught my eye as well! Larry

  6. Your coleus is beautiful. My neighbour has a gorgeous pot this year too. I haven't planted it for years as the earwigs like to eat it but hers is doing fine and there aren't as many earwigs as other year. Maybe I'll try it next year.

  7. I am growing some of these this year with some vinca and I am so pleased with them. They are so showy and easy care, too. Don't you just love all their different colors? Love your red one dipped in yellow!

  9. You have an awesome collection of coleus. Do you winter any of them over? I always think I'm going to take cuttings and then forget all about it. Love the little boot planter too.
