The foilage and blooms didn't disappoint me this year. I now have the pots positioned near the hummingbird and oriole feeders now they are blooming.. One of the good things about growing plants in pots is that you can move them around whenever you feel like it.

And now the blooms are attracting the hummingbirds many times a day. They particularly like watering time and enjoy the mist of the hose.

Here you can see the female ruby throated hummingbird checking out the flowers.
I'm sharing my photos with Cottage Floral Thursday and Fertilizer Friday and Camera Critters.
Take time to enjoy the garden today.

Linda I too grow cannas the red leaved ones. I have them in the ground but like your idea of in a pot.. Will try that next summer..... great photo of the hummer drinking.....
ReplyDeleteLove your hummingbird shots. The cannas in pots is a good idea...maybe next year!
ReplyDeleteCannas are great plants, I have four or five different kinds and thank goodness I don't have to lift them to overwinter.
ReplyDeleteWonderful idea - Cannas in pots! I didn't grow any this year, because of my disability. I always find it too difficult to lift them. Must try this next year!
ReplyDeleteHi hetty, I went to growing canna in pots because I was unable to dig them from the ground. Recent knee surgery limits my work in the garden. But pots can be tipped and the contents easily come out. Sift through the dirt, find the roots, put the dirt back in the pot for another year.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful. I have tried and tried to get a good hummingbird shot and can't.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good idea about using the pots-so much easier to rearrange wherever you choose.
The Canna is such a beautiful flower! I don't think I've seen it in anyones garden before. Maybe I'll try to grow some next year. Your photos are great-love the hummingbird shots!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by earlier!

Absolutely beautiful photos. Must try Cannas in pots next year, maybe I will have more success that way, thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful photos of the hummers. They are so hard to capture in their hurry to flit about. Great post! Pamela
ReplyDeleteA lovely shot Linda, I imagine you enjoyed watching the humming bird.
ReplyDeleteJulie.C
Wonderful shots of such exotic plants.
ReplyDeleteI have not grown canna in many years, but this sure provides me with a great incentive to try them again.
ReplyDeleteOmigosh Linda! I love the photos you posted. That hummingbird in action is so sweet! Happy Thursday!

Great captures.
ReplyDeleteNo cannas in my garden...think maybe I'll buy some for next year. Sure are awesome plants and a winner with the hummers.
Humming birds are so pretty. I remember one year I was so excited that I had seen one in my backyard, not something that happens every day. This summer I saw another when we were camping, really amazing little birds.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I've never seen a hummingbird on my cannas. I'll have to watch extra close now. I love cannas in pot. They have such a commanding presence.
ReplyDeleteTHX for that gr8 idea.:0)
ReplyDeleteSpectacular! I love pots for the same reason!
ReplyDeleteThis hummingbird is sooo cute! :) LG Tina
ReplyDeleteGreat hummer shots! I grow Canna too but in the ground. They spread and I find them popping up in unexpected places. Maybe I should grow them in pots to contain them. Either way they are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda
ReplyDeleteGreat capture of the hummingbirds! I haven't grown cannas since the squirrels dug in the pots in spring and ate parts of the bulbs.
Judith
so pretty =)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers and the hummingbird is amazing!
ReplyDeleteLinda,
ReplyDeleteThe cannas are gorgeous, but your shots of the hummers are impressive! Wonderful! Happy Critter Day!
Wow, gorgeous capture.
ReplyDeleteMY critter post, have a great weekend!
Very nice post and your photos, too.
ReplyDeleteEspecially I like the last one.
