Storm Approaching

We have certainly had some extreme hot weather lately, and that usually leads to thunder storms with heavy rain.  Last Monday was no exception.

Around 4 pm the clouds started moving in quite quickly.

It got dark very quickly.

I was able to sit out on the front bench with my eye on the sky and watch it all happen. But when the rain started I had to move inside. The rain came down fast and furious and there went all hopes of a bbq for dinner that night.  The rain probably wasn't enough to water the grass and gardens but it was better than nothing at all. As soon as the storm was over it got hot and muggy again and has been that way ever since. Perhaps when the next storm comes it will clear the air and the humidity.

Keep your eye on the sky as it is fascinating to watch. I'm not the only one that loves to do that, check out more great photos at Sky Watch.

  1. Linda we too saw the clouds but only a couple of minutes of rain and then dry and so hot again..... who would have thought after all the rain this spring it would be so dry. Gardens are needing a day of rain.

  2. We too saw dark clouds, but the rain did not follow. It has been many weeks here without rain. Predictions for our area have been very wrong.

  3. Deste lado do planeta é inverno, mas também temos tempestades. A diferença é que quando chove a temperatura cai! Hoje meu céu parece o seu.

  4. I love to sit outside and watch storms approaching. I, too, stay outside until the rain drives me inside. Your pictures capture the movement of the clouds very well. Sorry it remained muggy - I don't think the plants like that kind of weather, either!

  5. I love watching the sky changing, even better when its a thunder storm. But I am going away next week so fingers crossed we don't get to much rain.

  6. I like to watch storms coming on, but like you I don't like to get caught in them!

    SKY SONG

    Glowing moon and shining stars,
    Venus, Jupiter and Mars,
    Planets swirling round the sun;
    Darkness falls when day is done.

    In the vast and endless sky
    Eagle, wren and falcon fly;
    Over hill and dale they roam,
    Calling cloud and thunder home.

  7. I'm a sky watcher too! I love looking at the cloud formations. We've had some very heavy showers here today but it's still very humid and sauna-like out. Pamela

  8. It seems that we are looking forward to some rain all over the world. I am at the other end; in Malaysia which is near the Equator. It is also hot and humid. I've been to Toronto, a beautiful place many years ago.

  10. Hello, Linda. I hadn't really thought of taking pictures of the sky. It's a great idea and yours turned out so well. I tried to look at your new post (I saw it on my blogroll) but it keeps taking me back to this post. I tried from my dashboard and had the same problem. I mention this just in case there is a problem with the link and not just an issue at my end.

  11. Hi Home and Garden, thanks for letting me know, must of done a couple of clicks that caused it to disappear for a few moments, probably right when you arrived. Hoping you can see it now.
