Look Who's Blushing

The pot garden is doing very well during this extreme heat we have been having.  In fact the tomatoes are starting to blush.

The above images were taken a few days ago and by today I was able to pick the first few juicy homegrown tomatoes. How sweet is that?

And while out picking them I was able to get a couple of good photos of the tomato plants and their shadows ...

... to share with Shadow Shot Sunday

I'll also be joining Mosaic Monday

Are you harvesting and eating anything from the garden?

  1. Hi Linda, Happy Sunday, but you might see this only on Monday. Our native tomatoes looking like that have high acidity, so we use them as fresh sauces or to acidify our stews. When you say very hot what is that in terms of degree Celsius? Maybe what is hot in Canada is already our equivalent for our coldest! haha.

  6. Tomatoes here are just about ready. Your photos make them look so go and me more anxious. Did you get the rain we had last night? Finally, rain after a month. It did not last long at all, but at least it came. I am hoping it brings the temperature down a little further as well.

  8. Hi Andrea, temperatures have been in the 30 Celsius range, from low up to about 37. The humidex factor is what is making it awful and with that we reached about 47 Celsius one day and many have been hovering about 39 to 40 Celsius.

  18. We need a bit of that heat to the west of you! I'm sure you'd be happy for a bit of cooler weather. It's been a rainy summer here in Alberta. Your tomato harvest is terrific while mine are still flowering and growing a few small green tomatoes thus far. Enjoy your weekend.

  20. When you're waiting for tomatoes to ripen, they seem to take forever--and then all of a sudden, there they are!

    I’M YOUR SHADOW

    Hello, there, I’m your shadow,
    I tag after you;
    Whatever you are doing,
    That is what I do.

If you should fling a football
    Forty yards or more,
    I’ll be right beside you,
    Evening the score.

If you should flick a booger
    From your stuffy nose,
I will surely do the same—
    Watch how far it goes!

    So, friend, be very careful
    What you say and do—
    Whatever you are doing,
    I’ll do just as you!

  34. Your tomatoes look fantastic! We have harvested tons of lettuce and way too many zucchini to ever eat. We've had lots of zucchini bread and muffins! Also several cucumbers and the first beans. My little tomatoes are delicious. I don't even get them into the house, but just pop them into my mouth as I find them. Also have some volunteer pumpkins that have already started to turn orange. Hope they keep until the end of October.

  35. Your tomatoes are doing beautifully. I tried to grow some a few years ago, but my little townhouse space faces north and obviously they didn't do well. All I got were a couple, but it was fun to try nonetheless.
