The above images were taken a few days ago and by today I was able to pick the first few juicy homegrown tomatoes. How sweet is that?

And while out picking them I was able to get a couple of good photos of the tomato plants and their shadows ...

... to share with Shadow Shot Sunday

I'll also be joining Mosaic Monday
Are you harvesting and eating anything from the garden?

Hi Linda, Happy Sunday, but you might see this only on Monday. Our native tomatoes looking like that have high acidity, so we use them as fresh sauces or to acidify our stews. When you say very hot what is that in terms of degree Celsius? Maybe what is hot in Canada is already our equivalent for our coldest! haha.
ReplyDeleteOh, those look sooooo delicious, Linda! What superb, colorful captures and shadows for the day! I do love those little tomatoes! Hope your weekend is going well!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
The tomatoes look delicious and the mosaic is beautiful. My tomatoes aren't nearly at that stage yet. However, I have been able to enjoy a few zucchini so far.

Those tomatoes look wonderful. Your photo has me dreaming of summer days.

I love the little yellow tomatoes, what kind are they? And what a fabulous shadow shot!
ReplyDeleteTomatoes here are just about ready. Your photos make them look so go and me more anxious. Did you get the rain we had last night? Finally, rain after a month. It did not last long at all, but at least it came. I am hoping it brings the temperature down a little further as well.
ReplyDeleteSeems the saliva glands here in front of my monitor are working overtime right now......love me some homegrown tomatoes!!! :::drool:::
ReplyDeleteSTILT WALKER?
Have a happy Sunday.
Hi Andrea, temperatures have been in the 30 Celsius range, from low up to about 37. The humidex factor is what is making it awful and with that we reached about 47 Celsius one day and many have been hovering about 39 to 40 Celsius.
ReplyDeleteThe yellow tomatoes are yellow plum Ali.
ReplyDeleteNo rain last night for us GardenwalkGardentalk. Whatever you got didn't head our way.
ReplyDeleteOh boy hubby will love that tomato is his favorite...Happy SSS!
ReplyDeleteMine is here
Great shadow shots, and great tomotoes! I can taste the freshness in a cool refreshing Italian tomato salad on these hot summer days. Need a recipe?
ReplyDeleteFine work photographing and growing.
Peace
It has been hot here but we have potatoes and tomatoes coming along. We harvested lettuce, kale from our early spring garden. Good looking tomatoes here.

I love the recipe Spadoman.
ReplyDeleteOoh, how lucky! Our tomatoes are still green green and green. =0)
ReplyDeleteWonderful, wonderful. I want to reach into the picture and eat them all up!
ReplyDeleteLucy
Tomatoes look very nice and tasty.
ReplyDeleteNice shadow shots.
Regards!
We need a bit of that heat to the west of you! I'm sure you'd be happy for a bit of cooler weather. It's been a rainy summer here in Alberta. Your tomato harvest is terrific while mine are still flowering and growing a few small green tomatoes thus far. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty photos!
ReplyDeleteMine are still green. Patiently waiting, well...maybe not so patient. :)
When you're waiting for tomatoes to ripen, they seem to take forever--and then all of a sudden, there they are!
ReplyDeleteI’M YOUR SHADOW
Hello, there, I’m your shadow,
I tag after you;
Whatever you are doing,
That is what I do.
If you should fling a football
Forty yards or more,
I’ll be right beside you,
Evening the score.
If you should flick a booger
From your stuffy nose,
I will surely do the same—
Watch how far it goes!
So, friend, be very careful
What you say and do—
Whatever you are doing,
I’ll do just as you!

Your tomatoes look scrumptious! Enjoy eating them! I hope you get lots more in the coming weeks.
ReplyDeleteMmmm your tomatoes look good! We're slow this year, but so far we've had lettuce, radishes and....(drum roll)...one tomato!
ReplyDeleteWish I had some home grown tomatoes. I am watching a wee little zucchini growing in my front garden with my flowers.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy those beautiful tomatoes!
There's nothing that tastes as good as a summer tomato! Wonderful! Mine have given up ... too much heat.
ReplyDeleteYour tomatoes look delicious. So far we've had radishes, lettuce, zucchini and kale - no tomatoes even ripening yet.
ReplyDeleteGreat harvest. They do look delicious! Well at least the heat has been good for something.
ReplyDeleteNo tomatoes here yet. I am waiting for that first warm, juicy taste. Hope they were yummy!
ReplyDeleteI can almost taste those tomatoes. Mine are not that far along yet. V
ReplyDeleteI wish I did tomatoes this year, but I didn't! Yours look so good. Enjoy them, there's nothing like fresh from the garden.
ReplyDeleteWonderfull tomatoes plants, this year in Belgium,it has be to hot en dry and no good production for tomatoes;
ReplyDeletebrst regard to you.
Looks like you are going to be having some wonderful tomatoes to eat...salads, sandwiches and maybe some Blt's?
ReplyDeleteYes, the weather sure has been good for the tomatoes, Ours are turning colour now. They are so sweet! Yourshadows are terrific!
ReplyDeleteYour tomatoes look yummy! I am harvesting beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, squash, peppers, and okra. Love your photos!
ReplyDeleteYour tomatoes look fantastic! We have harvested tons of lettuce and way too many zucchini to ever eat. We've had lots of zucchini bread and muffins! Also several cucumbers and the first beans. My little tomatoes are delicious. I don't even get them into the house, but just pop them into my mouth as I find them. Also have some volunteer pumpkins that have already started to turn orange. Hope they keep until the end of October.
ReplyDeleteYour tomatoes are doing beautifully. I tried to grow some a few years ago, but my little townhouse space faces north and obviously they didn't do well. All I got were a couple, but it was fun to try nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteThanks for adding "Fuzzy Tales" to the blog hop...I'm logged in under my own account, currently. I've added your blog to my personal site's blog list, btw.
