The June Robins

The light fixture over the garage is a popular spot for the robins to nest. This year was no exception.
Mother robin was busy re-building this nest for awhile, and then I was able to get a photo of her sitting on the eggs.

It didn't seem that long that the little baby robins were poking up their heads.

We could watch them get bigger, stronger and noisier each day.

This photo was taken just a day before they left. The nest now sits empty waiting for next year.
The nest in the honeysuckle vine is now empty as well. I wasn't lucky enough to get any photos of those robin babies as the nest was so well hidden.

They are the cutest lens friends to share with Camera Critters.

Take time to enjoy the garden today.

  1. Never managed to find a nest in use in our garden. Sometimes we find empty nests when pruning. And we do see lots of young birds.

Let me know when you put up 'Why I blog'

  4. Great closeups of baby! I tried getting some yesterday from a nest in a store sign but it was too high up. Maybe I should have asked the manager for a ladder?!

  5. Would love to be able to get close-ups of birds like yours. Are you able to get close or is it a long lens?

  6. Janet, I have a big lens on my Canon SLR camera which enables me to get right up close.

  8. Hi Linda. It is wonderful that you were able to watch them grow.I do not know how they keep up with all those hungry beaks. LOL! Have a great weekend.

  10. Linda, you might get another pleasant surprise this year! Our robin family has stayed around and the mother has been hanging around the nest a lot. We are on vacation for a week and my son called to tell me that there are 3 new eggs in the nest today! Maybe yours will lay a second clutch as well?!

  11. I too have a nest being built right outside my office. Only time will tell if little heads pop out. The nest was here last year, but the grackles dismantled it and destroyed the eggs, and I am guessing it is the same robin pair back for a second try. Cute images of the family. I don't have the nerve to get a ladder in the tree to see if eggs are in the nest.
