Heliopsis in the Heat

We are most likely having the hottest day this summer.  With humidex factors reaching about 48 Celsius, it is hot, hot, hot and sticky on top of that. It's a day to stay inside, stay cool and hydrated and play with some photos on the computer.  That's about 119 F. if you don't think in Celsius.
The heliopsis are very hardy and seem to survive just about anything from lack of rain to extreme heat.

I love taking macro photos of the various stages of the blooms opening. Heliopsis or false sunflower grows in tall clumps of long blooming flowers.

I"m blog hopping with Cottage Floral Thursday and Fertilizer Friday. Won't you join in?

I'm hoping that if you are in this extreme heat you can find a place to stay cool.

  1. Thank you for visiting my blog and for the kind comment. I read your mention of Cottage Flora Thursday, above, and just decided to join in today! Your collage is terrific; I love seeing the various stages of blooms as well, not just the final flower.

  2. I like you like to take photos of flowers in all stages of their life from the bud to the seedhead. The yellow is so happy. It is hot today but I have my Hort newsletter to put together for next week so that is keeping me busy today. Keep cool. V

  4. Hi Linda
Great photos of the heliopsis. I always had major aphid issues with them in the past so pulled them out. Maybe it was the variety. How are yours?

  5. Beautiful photos of heliopsis; one of my favourite plants in the garden. Grows beautifully, and never complains. I love it!

Stay cool in this dreadful heat!

  6. What a beautiful collage of your heliopsis! I can't believe how hot it's been in Ont. and even here in NB. We did get a lot of rain this afternoon but it was like a steam bath outside afterwards. Stay cool! Pamela

  7. Today in Niagara it hit 95° F. The heat index was higher and with the humidity, it was unbearable. The flowers forged on surprisingly. Your progression of bloom is wonderful, but capture them in decline too. They make interesting shots in form and color.

  10. Now that is hot! Even for someone who lives in the tropics of northern Oz, like me. We don't get temps that high here on the coastline very often, but inland these tempertures would be almost a daily event during their summers.

Fabulous mosaic. Great shots showing the different stages of flowering.
