My Pot Garden

Don't let the title fool you ... I don't grow pot ... I grow in pots!!
Here is my pot garden to flaunt for

This year I've moved my tomato plants into the large metal pots as bending down to ground level is difficult for me to do while recovering from knee surgery.
This is a view of part of my pot garden at the end of May when first planted.  There are three large metal tubs (bought at garage sales for a couple of dollars each) with the tomato plants in them. The tubs have drainage holes in the bottom and I've put in a few marigolds as companion plants to ward off those bugs.

Here is a recent photo of my pot garden. The tomato plants are getting bigger each day and some tiny yellow flowers are beginning to appear. I can easily reach the pots to do some weeding, deadheading and adding some fertilizer..  And I can't wait till I can pick of some sweet, juicy tomatoes to enjoy.

Some other plants in the pot garden are petunias, Peruvian daffodils, celosia, nicotiana, salvia, cosmos and zinnias.

Be sure to stop over to Tootsie Time and see lots more gardeners that are flaunting their flowers on Fridays.

Take time to enjoy the garden today.

  1. great idea! I have a bad knee too....my knee surgery was years and years ago, but it still bothes me some times. I also don't get a lot of sun in my gardens due to massive backyard tree.....but I Could move a potted tomato plant to where the Sun IS. would be so nice to have fresh grown tomatoes.

  3. I really enjoy container gardening, but with the size of the regular gardens, I get overwhelmed with all the watering. It was difficult, but I forced myself to cut back on hanging baskets on my arbor from 24 to 9... I know I will miss them, but there is only so much time in a day... your containers are looking great... do you cut drainage holes in the wash tubs? Have a great day! Larry

  5. I am doing mostly "pot gardening" this year also. My husband built me a raised bed garden where I can grow lots of veggies in square foot sizes. So far, I am really enjoying it, but I couldn't stop myself from planting the normal garden too.

  6. My mom is a pot gardener too:). Just seems to work better for her. Now that I think of it, I guess I am too, since little of my stuff is actually in the ground. Love your tubs!!!

  7. Your tomatoes plants are so big. My plants have not grown since we put them in the garden the beginning of June, but the weather has been so cold up here. Have a great weekend:)

  12. I do hope your knee rehabs well and you'll be back to gardening full swing next year...but, modified is fine too. As long as you can dig in some dirt right? I'm pulling "pot" all the time from around my garden, I'm glad you're not growing it :)
