I have a thing for teapots, old kettles, teacups. Not that I need any more but how could I resist this little aluminum teapot that reminded me of one my grandmother used to have.

I didn't read the bottom of the pot till I got home. It is stamped Swan Brand, Made in England, 4 cups, The Carlton (all in capital letters).
The outside has a flower design on both sides. The handle and knob on the lid are black bakelite. The inside is a little marked, looks like it was well used at one time. My original idea was to use it in my tea thyme garden and grow a little plant in it.

Here is the pot on top of my tea chest that was a gift from my daughter. The tea chest is full of my favourite teas, most of them Stash brand. I did some research on this teapot and found that some of them have sold on ebay for up to $35, plus that inevitable shipping. Maybe I'll be rethinking my use for this lovely little teapot. Oh did I mention the teapot cost me $1, so maybe I did find a great bargain after all.
Won't you drop in for a cuppa?
Tea Cup Tuesday

Your little teapot is a lovely find and my Mum had one just the same which is now residing in my sister's house. It has a sugar bowl to match which is rather cute.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day,
Anne xx
Oh yes I remember a tea pot similar to one my Gran had, but without the patterns. What a bargain then that was good.

Ha ha, I was about to tell you the value on the tea pot is roughly $40 before i saw your Ebay research. In our Southern California antique shops you could probably fetch $60 so that's quite an adorable find!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info Alexis, it is nice to know I actually got a bargain for a $1 that is potentially worth more.
ReplyDeleteYour little tea pot is precious and what a find! I bet it has lots of stories to tell ... if only it could talk! Happy Tea Day!
ReplyDeleteYes, you did find a bargain! Since it reminds you of your grandmothers tea pot, it is even better than that.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see some of your tea cup collection too.
Keep up the garage sales and who knows, you may just find something Antique Roadshow would love!
Hugs,
Terri

oh wow, you could fetch a nice profit for that lovely teapot, so envious! i do love teacups and teapots but even so, i can only afford buying from the charity/thrift shops or garagecar boot sales hehehe so yes i'm like you, thought it's almost impossible who knows we might find something that worth a fortune someday! starting with that little teapot of yours! :) thanks for dropping by my blog.
ReplyDeleteGreat find !!!
ReplyDeleteNo, don't use it for plants !
It's a keeper.
A fabulous find indeed! I initially thought Wow.. how great in the garden but when I saw how authentic it is...better for teatime!
ReplyDeleteHi , I love your teapot! And I love tea too. Especially tea in my garden.
ReplyDeleteThat is really pretty. What is there about teapots that is so attractive and endearing? Maybe it is their usefulness and memories they evoke and the physical comfort of a cup of tea.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun little adventure you've had!.., Your teapot is such a delightful find!
ReplyDeleteDo enjoy your tea and gardening as the spring season unfolds and progresses ever so wonderfully here in Canada, also!.., It's always such a refreshing spring tonic after such a long winter!

What a great find and bargain as well, $1 dollar good for you. Funny how a tea pot, cup or saucer takes us back a few years, great for memories and fun to have around, oh unless you add it to the for sale list
ReplyDeleteGreat find! Lovely tea pot!
ReplyDeleteHave you tried Mate tea, in Ontario they sell it at costco and price choppers, it s from Argentina, we drink that instead of tea..
