Souper Sunday

Here is a soup I made a few weeks ago, right after Christmas.  I didn't show it then as I figured there were enough left over turkey recipes out at that time.
This is just one of my recipes created with what was in the fridge at the time.  There was plenty of cooked turkey that was cut into small pieces. I cubed 6 medium potatoes, sliced a couple of stalks of celery and diced up some carrots.  I added some frozen peas and green beans and some barley.  All of this went into some chicken stock and was cooked in a large pot for a couple of hours.
I always make a large pot of soup and freeze a few portions.  Today I'll be getting out one of those freezer bags and enjoying it for dinner with some nice crusty bread.
There is nothing like a bowl of homemade soup on a chilly winter day.

  1. Mmmm...delicious! I love homemade soup with some crusty bread. And like you, I make a large batch and freeze some for another day. Thank you for sharing this great recipe. I'll have to make it soon.

  2. I make lots of soups, stews, and crock pot meals this time of year. Hard to keep enough crackers on hand. Matter of fact, I am going to the grocery store.

    Enjoy your weekend,

  7. It looks yummy, I just made a big pot of cream of broccoli soup. I divided into 5 freezer containers and I have no idea if it freezes well.
I'll find out next week when I cook up two bread bowls and take out a package.
