There was a group of mallard ducks, both male and female busily scurrying around a small inlet.
Of course I took numerous photos but the one above is my favourite. I love how in the reflection you can clearly see his eyes and the details on his beak.
Mallards are not diving ducks but are dabbling ducks, which means they feed just below the surface of the water. This area by the bay will freeze over during the winter so these ducks will probably leave to find a more suitable spot with open water to spend the winter.
These photos fit in perfectly for Weekend Reflections and they the perfect lens friends for linking with Camera Critters.

Gorgeous Mallards and I love those shiny green heads! Your photos are superb and such lovely reflections! Marvelous post for the day! Hope you have a great weekend! Enjoy!

MMMMH...
ReplyDeleteAre those ducks ?!
Kidding, sorry ! (you have to see my own participation to get the joke...)
Nice shot anyway... The light make them as bright as jewels...
Those boys are so shiny!
ReplyDeleteI guess these last days of November are good gathering days for the waterfowl before they fly away. Great shots Linda.
ReplyDeleteThe mallard duck is such a beautiful fowl. The "emerald" head on the male is unmistakable. Great photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by.
Those are nice duck photos.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos of those beautiful mallards. I love the way the heads of the males are different colors depending which way the light hits them. Gorgeous. And that reflection is picture-perfect.

The ducks are beautiful critters, and the reflections are just their mirror images!
ReplyDeleteThe second one is also my favourite. I love the silvery water - perfect backdrop for the reflection.
ReplyDeleteWe have quite a few water birds up the lake in the summer, but I've never seen a mallard. This year we did have a red-throated loon that was an uncommon visitor. - Margy
