Homes on the Water

A couple of years ago we had a fantastic holiday visiting family in Victoria, British Columbia.  The recent ad on television by Via Rail makes me want to take the trip again.  If you haven't seen the ad, it shows moving photos (very Harry Potter-ish) in a couple's house and the view from their windows is just like looking out the train windows.  We just love this ad and the memories it creates for us.

While browsing through all the photos we took I came across these of some float homes and their perfect reflections in the water.
These were taken at Fisherman's Wharf in Victoria and who wouldn't fall in love with the float homes there.
I certainly think the experience of living on a float home would be amazing.  I'm not sure if I would want it to be in such a busy location though as there were always people walking by.  I would love a peaceful setting where I could sit and enjoy Nature.

Take a look at some other bloggers that are posting photos of Weekend Reflections.

Thanks for visiting today. I hope you can take a moment to leave a comment and say hi.

  1. I haven't seen the ad but I have seen the float homes and love 'em as well! I could see my husband and I living in one. Having nature right up at your front door! How remarkable is that? The peacefulness of leaving on the water and the uniqueness of it all would be quite intriguing!
I hope you can make the trip again soon!

  2. We go down there often and feed the resident seals! They have a great fish-n-chip spot right on the dock too, it's a nice place to visit!

  6. Linda, these are fantastic! I've never seen anything like this. Thanks for sharing them.

That third one, in particular, certainly has a lot of character and charm.

  7. I totally agree with you, I love the idea, but I would love my privacy also. It's kind of like living on the edge of a public beach, it's so hard not to look at the beautiful houses. But privacy must not bother them, or they wouldn't live there.

One woman was featured in the paper, and she said that she had mirror tile on all her back walls, to reflect the light. She also didn't have curtains, at all. And she walked around naked upstairs. I'm thinking that she might be a bit of a exhibitionist...
