Friday's flowers for this week are heliopsis and echinacea.

Heliopsis or false sunflower, really isn't a sunflower at all. It grows in large clumps and blooms for a very long time. The blooms are lovely for cut flowers. Deadheading will extend the bloom time and done at the end of the bloom time will stop the seeds from dropping and growing in other places. I do leave some to self seed and then get lovely new little clumps the following year.

Echinacea or purple coneflower is a gorgeous plant. This plant loves the sunny spot in the front garden and it will tolerate dry conditions, which is great for this summer as it has been so hot and humid. The plant attracts butterflies and bees. It is a must for every garden.
Thanks for visiting today. I hope you can take a moment to leave a comment and say hi.

I love the photos but love love love the purple coneflower. When I used to have a garden, it used to be a "must have" in a huge space of the gardens!!

ReplyDeleteHi there Pig in Mud, thanks for stopping by. I stopped by your blog and love your little piggie decorations.
And the colors compliment each other so well.
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely photos. These are not flowers that are grown in my neck of the woods ... so definitely not a common sight around here ... it was great to see your photos.
ReplyDeleteLove your garden! I've got to get some purple coneflowers.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I agree, coneflowers should be grown in every garden. Butterflies love it, and birds love the pull the ripe seeds out too! It's a must for me, I have a couple of different ones.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda. Wow, they look so lovely together. What a beautiful picture.
