Baby Woody

Look at the cute baby woodpecker that I captured though my lens.

He sat on the peanut feeder for the longest time and didn't mind that I kept creeping a bit closer to get a good photo.
We are in the midst of a heatwave with temperatures in the mid 30's Celsius, but with humidex factored in it feels more like the low 40's Celsius.  So my time out stalking the birds with my new Canon lens has been a bit restricted.  I'm ready for this heat wave to go away, and I'll even wave it goodbye.

Thanks for visiting today. I hope you can take a moment to leave a comment and say hi.

  2. Aw, what a cutie! I had one recently visit the peanut feeder. And like you, I kept inching closer and closer to him until - I SWEAR! - I was about two feet away before he finally flew away. Sad thing is, I didn't have my camera with me that day...darn... Talk about missing a kodak moment!

Nice shot of the little woodpecker; it's amazing.

  3. Waving the heat goodbye would be soooo nice. Too hot to anything outside unless it is before 9am. Great shot of the baby woodpecker, what size is your new lens.

  6. Great photo---I need to get me one of those peanut feeders. We too, here in northeast Tennessee, are scorching! 102 deg. yesterday. We've never seen anything like it. That was WITHOUT the humidex (I love your new word :D )

  7. Garden of Threads - My lens is a 55-250 IS for the Canon T1i camera.

Water Roots - those Kodak moments always seem to happen when the camera is elsewhere

Angie - it is way too hot to do anything for any length of time outside

Thanks to everyone for taking time to comment.
