This Friday I'm showing some 4 o'clocks - Marvel of Peru - Mirabilis jalapa.
This plant is named because the fragrant blooms tend to open around 4 o'clock in the afternoon.

I was thrilled to see this plant grow in one of the large tubs this year as I didn't plant any of the seeds.

This is one of the volunteer plants that grew when the seeds dropped last year.

It is a lovely big, bushy plant with numerous white blooms on it. 4 o'clocks do come in other colours as well.
Each bloom will produce a roundish see whichI will be saving at the end of the season. For seed information on this plant be sure to look here. Thanks for visiting today. I hope you can take a moment to leave a comment and say hi.

Linda, What a very pure white flower, must look great in the evening. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteI like the four oclocks. My husband's uncle always give me a couple of his seedlings. This years lot are not blooming yet.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool it grew from volunteer seeds. Nice.
ReplyDeleteI've always love four o'clocks, but for some reason I have trouble growing them in my yard. Probably a lack of sun. I enjoyed yours though!
ReplyDeleteWonderful! My mother always had four o'clocks in her garden, when I was a kid, I used to wonder how the plant knew what time it was... Thank you for this post and a trip down memory lane! Karen
ReplyDeleteI love how innocent and pure they look! they are a beautiful addition to your gardens...I haven't grown them the last couple of years...not sure even why not! haha...maybe I should add them to the list!
