Yipee for long weekends! Yipee, even louder, when the weather on the long weekend is gorgeous. In fact it is so gorgeous we are seeking shade to sit in to keep cool. A lot of people go away on this weekend, and we used to do that years ago. But now we avoid the highways on long weekends and just relax around the house. That is if you call garden work relaxing!
The temperatures are pushing 30 Celsius with the humidex readings. The shade of the big trees and bushes is most welcome.
The grass has been cut and some plants have been put into the ground. The shade of the trees creates the perfect spot to sit back and admire the garden. You can even see the shadow of the dead tree at the very edge of the garden. We hesitate to cut it down as the branches hold several bird feeders and we have the perfect view of all the birds that stop there for a rest and a snack.
Harriet is hosting Shadow Shot Sunday. Be sure to stop by and join in the fun. Thanks for visiting today. I hope you can take a moment to leave a comment and say hi.
Oh, yes! Isn't spring and the sunny weather wonderful! Love your shadow shots and all the rich green color! Hope you have a marvelous, sunny, warm weekend! Enjoy!

No wonder you are so proud of your garden - it's simply beautiful. Just mind me a spot in the shade and I'll be right over!
ReplyDeleteWe look forward to spring all winter don't we Sylvia. Hope you are having lovely weather too.
ReplyDeleteHi Khim, thanks for stopping by.
There is plenty of room Hot Fudge, and you are welcome to sit for awhile.
Lovely shadows! It was gorgeous here the past couple of days - but we've had rain all day.
ReplyDeleteNow the next few days are supposed to be much better!
Happy 2-4 weekend to you!
It did turn out to be a beautiful weekend despite the threat of thunderstorms.I think the garden would enjoy some rain rather then always wet with rain barrel water. Your garden is lovely. Rather be in the garden then on the highway any day.
ReplyDeleteYou have some really lovely shadows. I like your idea of spending your weekends at home. Gardening is the best!
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to reading yours as we have recently moved to a house where I actually have room to dig in the dirt. I am very new to gardening but am excited to learn some new things!
Hi Linda - it was a funny day weatherwise here in Oshawa - but alot warmer than predicted. Hopefully tomorrow it will be the same.
ReplyDeleteYes, has been warm in our neck of the woods the last few days. I hope you take time from all your gardening to relax in the chairs. Have a wonderful weekend and take care.
ReplyDeleteWow, why would you want to go away with such a beautiful garden.
ReplyDeleteYour shots are great.
Way cooler here in Kelowna. Rain too. Hope the tourists aren't too disappointed :)
ReplyDeleteHello and greetings from Vancouver Island! Thanks for stopping by again to visit my blog. Yes - yipee for the long weekend!! We are having cooler temperatures here on Vancouver Island, lots of rain and some sunshine. The rain doesn't stop us from going outside though! You asked about one of the plant types in my blog photos - I believe it is a 'Lady's Mantle' - I have planted SO many varieties of plants, that I am losing track! The leaf looks like a Lady's Mantle leaf. Thank you for visiting and have a wonderful long weekend! Michelle Hope to see you again.
ReplyDeleteHi again! Michelle from Vancouver Island. Sorry - my fourth picture down is not a Lady's Mantle - my fourth picture down is a buddleia (butterfly bush) - sorry about that - I was thinking of the 'last' photo - which is a Lady's Mantle. The funny little orange balls attract bees. Most of my other buddleias have lavender, purple and different shaped flowers - this is an unusual one - very hardy plant too. Cheerio for now. Michelle
ReplyDeleteLooks like we all have enjoyed good weather this weekend:) You have a lovely garden full of great shadows.
ReplyDeleteThe shade looks inviting indeed. We had some unforcasted rai yesterday, then the sun broke through. It heated up quickly and brought on some humidity that had us seeking a nice shady spot like the yard in your pictures. Very nice.
ReplyDeletePeace.
Linda girl we are both smart to stay away from the crowds ! LOL
ReplyDeleteI am in the house with the AC .. allergies are going ballistic ? haha .. Ah yes ! shade !! I am so glad my back garden is very much that state of affairs now .. your lawn area looks very inviting and cool .. we never have Spring do we ? it just jumps right into SUMMER !
Joy
It has been glorious here this weekend and everything is suddenly growing fast!! We only have room for small trees, so we don't have the lovely shade cast by yours.

The sun is great to see--especially after days of rain but....when it gets warm---the pleasure one gets from sitting in the shade is PRICELESS!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Melinda
Hello, it's me again - Michelle. I looked up the name of the orange buddleia and found this name: The Buddleia glabosa or 'Chilean Orange Ball Tree'. It is very different than the other buddleias but is quite pretty - the bees love it! I do not remember if I bought it from a nursery or private plant sale. Cheerio for now. Michelle.
ReplyDeleteHi Michelle, thanks for researching and coming up with a name for the buddleia. I will check it out and see if it is hardy to my Cdn zone 5. It certainly is an unusual variety.
ReplyDeleteYour yard looks lovely and inviting. I'm glad you are able to be off, avoid the highways, and enjoy your home!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of the weekend!

It's hot here in Iowa too...but I'm lovin it, worked in the gardens all day and have a bucket of strawberries to reward myself with later!
ReplyDeleteNice yard! I love birds too, we have a wildbird feeder and a couple birdhouses in the garden.
