The honeysuckle that is.
The bushes have burst into bloom once again. Each year it seems the bushes are loaded with more and more blooms. Soon they will have lots of berries to entice the birds in for a snack.

Hi Linda - I remember the heady scent of a neighbour's honeysuckle bushes from a previous house. Enjoy their fleeting beauty.

ReplyDeleteHi Linda - your honeysuckle looks great!
ReplyDeleteWhat a magnificent spring we have had this year so far. I do hope it continues in this way through the summer. I am giving in to the planting urges today and doing my planters (and keeping my fingers crossed that there are no more frosts this season!)
ReplyDeleteYour garden must smell like my garden, heavenly. I have honeysuckle, lilac but also cherries. I hope you have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteyay..super gorgeous! I love the scent of HS..magical..and so are your beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteKiki~
wish I was there to smell that lovely array of aromas! Great to view your slideshow and in the process recognised a honeysuckle I have been trying to identify. After seeing your bush honeysuckle I now know it as Lonicera tatarica - have linked to your slideshow for my blog post. Thank you
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful--ours hasn't bloomed yet.
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday to you.
Melinda
Great time of year. Honeysuckles, lilacs and lily-of-the valley all have been brought in to make the house smell wonderful. Beautiful pictures.

Lovely post! The smells of spring are delightfuly, aren't they. Thanks for your comment. I was axiously awaiting those 'Angelique' tulips to open, as they had the most curious-looking buds (very round instead of the usual pointy ones.)
ReplyDeleteOurs are blooming right now too, and I enjoy it especially in the early morning or early evening!
ReplyDeleteThe honeysuckle is in bloom in my Montreal neighborhood, but the real vedette at the moment are the lilacs. Gorgeous clouds of them everywhere and the scent, particularly in the early morning, is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOur nearest bush is just across the property line in the yard of our Hassidic Jewish neighbor. As it happens, yesterday and today are the festival of Shavuoth (sp?) which celebrates the giving of the Torah when the mountain top where the grand event ocurred supposedly burst in to bloom.
I always cut the flowers on our side of the fence for them (they're not gardeners) and when I saw how early the festival was this year (it's a moveable feast) I didn't think the lilacs would be ready to decorate their table. But they were.
Do we put that down to divine intervention or climate change?:)
This is a lovely time of year to enjoy the garden aromas. isn't it? My honeysuckle isn't out yet!
