Blooms in May

It's the middle of the month of May and it's time to flaunt what is blooming in our gardens.

Photobucket
I still have lots of tulips in blooms, perhaps because they are in a north facing garden.  The bleeding heart is doing really well, considering it had to be moved just as it was starting to poke through the ground.  I've also got a slip of white bleeding heart which is doing really well, so I'm crossing my fingers for white blooms next year.
The poppies are just beginning to open their buds.  And the lily of the valley has wonderful scented blooms.  This stuff is so hardy, it survived being dug during the renovations, and when the soil was put back it started to grow.
The ground cover plants of ajuga and ground phlox are in full bloom.  The pot of pansies is getting more and more flowers on it.

  1. Pretty! My tulips are long gone and here in Virginia, the blooms are late spring/summer...peonies are fading, iris fading, but foxglove, gaillardia and roses appear. I enjoy your blog. Stop by Seven Oaks online soon, I will have the sweet tea waiting.

  2. Hi Linda - You really have a nice display of different things blooming. Wish I could figure out how to do the mosiac application.

  3. Beautiful blooms Linda. Our bleeding hearts are almost finished blooming. This year is the first time I've seen hummingbirds enjoying them, and also the first year they've developed seed pods. I love the white ones - they're definitely on my wish list.

  11. thank you for sharing your lovely May flowers - I think we are 'more advanced' in London - bloom wise - as tulips have finished now. And thanks also for the tip about Picasa collage. I love to present my 'pics' (camera not good enough to warrant being called photos!) in this format but until now have done them via photoshop

  12. Hi PatioPatch, Photoshop works great too, but you have to adjust the sizes yourself. With Picasa it automatically does all the resizing.

  14. Lovely shot of the bleeding heart. I've been hoping to get a white one from my neighbor but no luck yet... Nice job with the mosaic - it always looks so "artsy" and professional done that way!
