Cheep Rental ... Any Takers?

I've been checking out the birdhouses looking for signs of occupancy.  This birdhouse has been in the garden a few years.  It is close to the feeders and lots of tree protection.  It was built for bluebirds but we never seem to get them in our garden.

In previous years we've had sparrows, wrens and even a chipmunk use this birdhouse.  The chipmunk stored the peanuts and seeds he gathered from the nearby feeders.

So far no bird has taken it over this year. I haven't raised the rent at all and it is still offered for a cheep price.
Here is the nest that the wren built in it last year.  I haven't seen or heard the wren in the garden so far this year.  I'm hoping it returns and uses the house again.  The birdhouse is all cleaned out and ready for occupancy.

Why don't you stop by for a visit to Cheep Rooms and maybe be tempted to join in sharing photos of birdhouses.

Thanks for taking time to visit today. I hope you have time to leave a comment and say hi.

  1. I think its good accomadation I am sure you will soon have takers. I live near a town and only have one birdbox, but it dose have a split in it though. We have plenty of birds paying a visit though, in my garden I have a well maintained laylandie hedge and they all like nesting in there. The branches are sturdy and i have been thinking of resting a few boxes inside. Last year we had 2 doves that had nested on our ariel dish at the side of the house, with success maybe you remember the pictures on my post. Julie.C

  2. Your cute birdhouse certainly looks like a bird house residence but who knows. I am just beginning to see the blue birds in our yard.

I hope you get some good tenants!

  4. Hi Linda - is it too early maybe? We're a little messed up with our schedules this year because of all the great weather. Don't know what time of year that they should be nesting - just guessing.

  5. I have the same problem.. Just cleaned mine out and so far have not see one bluebird.. Not sure how to direct them to my little abode?? Good luck to you too. One winter late I had them because we had some holly berry branches I had used at Christmas and they were eating all the berries..

  8. Hope you do get a bluebird some year;betting that you know that the box hole is supposed to face a certain direction, at least I read that somewhere.Perhaps someone with more bird knowledge can help advise you, to draw a bluebird to your garden.

  10. Ha ha...too cute! Maybe the birds are also going through a recession and having a hard time paying rent, no matter the price.

That is a really cute birdhouse. Hope you get a feathery family in there soon.

  11. We've had no takers for our two birdhouses yet - although, after our dreadful winter everything is so much later, perhaps the birds are going to nest later ...
