Goodbye to February

For the most part February was a lovely winter month with hardly any snow.   However once the last week of the month arrived so did winter.

Sunday the 21st started our gorgeous with lovely blue skies and temperatures just above 0 Celsius.

Monday arrived with overcast skies, some light snow overnight and winter storm warnings.
By Thursday the snow had arrived and covered us all in a blanket of white once again.
Inuky has a light covering of snow.  But there was more to come.

The snow continued all day Thursday and overnight into Friday.  When we woke up on Friday morning and looked out the window the comment was OH WOW!

The sunrise was creating a red sky ... an ominous prediction.
There was another 15 cm. of snow blanketing the ground.

There is a driveway under all that snow and thanks to the snowplow there was a mountain of white stuff at the very end.

Just look at the snow on the fence rails and composter lid.

And Inuky is loaded up with snow.
As the day went on the temperature rose to +4 Celsius and the melting began.
Today for the last day of the month the snow has receded quite a bit and there are just a few flurries in the forecast.

Thank goodness all of February wasn't like the last week.

Goodbye to February.

  1. Hi Linda, your red sky photo is amazing!! I am tired of the snow and know by the end of March we should really be feeling like spring is here. That being said I found a photo of an April snow storm from a couple years ago....so it ain't over yet. brrr.....

  2. We had quite a bit of snow here, but most of it would end up melting with the temperatures rising above zero every day. It hasn't been a difficult winter, so I didn't mind all that much. Regardless, I'm soooooo happy that spring is on its way!

  4. HI Linda,Goodbye and good riddance is what I want to say to. Seemed like such a long month for being the shortest. LOL! Spring cannot come too soon for us here either.

  7. Linda, I hope you will have an early spring...and not just on the calendar! Snow is nice, but working in the garden is better!

I wanted to tell you that I just found out that Fiskars WILL ship the rain barrel to Canada, so if you would like to participate in my Sustainable Living project, you will have a chance at the prizes. Joe Lamp'l emailed me just a little while ago and after you wrote a comment about that, I wanted to let you know! Jan
