My digital camera is my constant companion while I'm working in the garden, walking by the water, or just out and about on my travels. You never know when that "Kodak Moment" will happen.
While travelling into town a couple of days ago we stopped to take some photos of the large flock of wild turkeys. These critters live in the woods by our house and they can be seen on an almost daily basis in the field next to the road that leads into town.
Sometimes they are way off at the edge of the field close to the woods. Other times they are fairly close to the road and lots of vehicles stop to admire them.
From a distance they look drab and uninteresting.
But once you get a closer look you can see many details
... like their patterned feathers, the shades of brown, and their bald heads.
Check out other bloggers that carry cameras all the time and snap photos of Camera Critters.
Thanks for taking time to visit today. I hope you have time to say hi and leave a comment.

Linda I still find it amazing to see these guys ! You took great pictures of them and YES ! .. taking a closer look , you can see how truly interesting they are with those markings and those little bald heads .. I think they need little hats in this cold now ? LOL
ReplyDeleteThey are interesting to watch! My in-laws have a flock of them that passes through their yard every now and then. I counted 37 once!
ReplyDeleteWe have tons of turkey in SC where we are building our new house. Am curious how the dogs will react to seeing their first turkey. They chase Great Blue Heron but leave Canada Geese alone.
ReplyDeleteWe've been seeing more wild turkeys around here the last few years. Kinda strange birds and they look very strange roosting in a tree, they are so big.
ReplyDeleteCool photos of the wild turkeys. It must been neat to have them close to your house.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. I have seen some around my neighborhood.
Great shots of the turkeys!
ReplyDeleteMy Camera Critter post. Have a good day!
Great shots! They really are pretty up close. My parents said they see them out their windows at times. I hope to see some and take photos, too.
ReplyDeleteWow - you got some really great shots of the turkeys! I see them around here, but they are difficult to photograph.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! Our dog always chases ours off before I can get anywhere near them with my camera. Good to be able to see what I'm missing!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
I've always enjoyed watching wild turkeys. Wonderful shots! They are pretty in their own way! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWe get large flocks in the farmers' fields here too. I've even seen them on the side of the road in winter, possibly pecking at the salt?
ReplyDeleteLinda: What a neat at the Wild Turkey, they are really a beautiful flock of birds.
ReplyDeleteNo way, I've never seen wild turkeys before!!! Thanks for sharing, they're great shots!
ReplyDeleteI've seen large groupings of wild turkeys like these at my brother's home in Chester, WV. It is my understanding that they are one of the most intelligent of birds. They are wonderful to watch.

ReplyDeleteHow lucky for you to get a chance to see these majestic birds. From afar, I would have thought they were Canadian geese. But they really are amazing. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny because hubby and I were just thinking about these fellas as we were out and about this weekend and wondering if we would spot any but none at all... but I guess in some ways I did see some, right here!! Very nice! Happy new year!
