It's January Thaw

We are having a few days which are labelled January thaw as the temperatures are just above the 0 Celsius mark.
The squirrels are out taking advantage of the bare ground under the feeders and scooping up the seed that drops down.

It looks like he found lots to keep him occupied as he was there for quite a while.

Thanks for taking time to visit today. I hope you have time to say hi and leave a comment.

  1. I was glad to see the sun yesterday. It hasn't actually thawed here though. That squirrel must have really been enjoying the seeds.

  2. Your canadian grey squirrels seem to have a thicker and bushier tale than our scottish ones.

  3. I just love your black squirrels. Melissa (Empress of Dirt)has them too and I love to see their pictures! We only have grey squirrles here. Ground and tree are both grey although the tree ones are prettier then the ground ones are!

  4. We're also having unseasonably warm weather. What I enjoy the most is opening the bedroom windows during the day, and going to bed in a "fresh air" room.
    Great pictures!

  5. Greetings from snow-free Toronto. My sister Sarah and I went for a walk at Rosetta McClain park yesterday, and saw what were perhaps the fattest squirrels ever. One tree was literally littered (!) with peanut shells at the base, so they're clearly being catered to. Squirrels tend to be scavengers in our neighbourhood. Occasionally, I'll find a crust of bread buried in a window box, and they often "transplant" my bulbs to neighbours' gardens.

  7. I have spoiled my squirrels rotten this winter - I feed them peanuts in the shells everyday. When I get up in the morning they are waiting at the back door.
