Stepping Stones
Here are a couple of ones that I made a year or so ago at a workshop. The round stones were purchased at a garden supply store. Using crafters goop glue I added the mosaics and the keys. Then grout was added to fill in all the spaces. After the grout dries you have to rub it off of the keys and tiles. Finally a coat of sealer was added so that they could go outside. I would never walk on this stepping stone but have it on one side of the front path.
This stepping stone was inspired by the piece of pottery with the swirl on it. From there I picked some pretty polished stones and unusual rocks that my children had collected over the years and continued the circular pattern around the stone.
My collection of old keys is always increasing so I also used some of the old keys to make a windchime.

Very Crafty! They look great, a nice element of whimsy in the garden!
Your stepping stones are wonderful! I was just thinking what great table tops they would make for the patio...and I really like the idea of a windchime from keys! Great ideas!
Those are great stepping stones!!! I recently made a few "bricks" you know those little kits you buy and mix cement and "stamp" them? It didn't work as easy as the directions. I guess they turned out o.k. but I wasn't impressed at all with the kit. I would much rather use clay then cement anyhow.
Those stones are wonderful. I have two long ones with my kids hands for Mother Days long ago.~~Dee
These stepping stones are beautiful but I really love the idea of windchimes with keys. Can you share a photo of that with us?
melanie - if you click the link in the message (windchimes) it will take you to the key windchime.
The stepping stones look good, they give an element of interest to the garden. Very artistic.
I thought it was just our family that collected old keys because we move so much. We have a bunch of keys that no one knows the use for, but we keep them nevertheless, thinking that someday their purpose will be revealed. Now I know, windchimes!
Love the stepping stones. I love to see crafty garden art.
