Hummer in motion

How exciting to have the hummers back in the garden.

I took a series of photos with my Olympus camera on April 19/08. I use a tripod to steady the lens.

The camera has 18x zoom so when the lens is extended it is heavy and my hands wouldn't be able to steady the camera.

These are some of the photos of the hummer which I got by using the rapid fire button.

What did we do without digital cameras?

Beautiful! I didn't see hummers here in our yard until after DH invited me to garden here the summer before we were married. I've been eyeing feeders lately to encourage them to visit more often.

Love those photos in motion. I want a tripod for my camera. It would help to make things steadier. Thanks.~~Dee

Great shots! The dear little things must expend all the energy they get at the feeder in that blur of wings!

Wow, Crafty! Hummers already! I'm still waiting for them in my Zone 6 garden (they usually don't show up 'til columbine bloom time here). Am I jealous? You bet! Lucky you!!!!

What a great shot! Those little guys are hard to catch and you're right, what did we ever do without the digital cameras!

Beautiful photos of a hummer in action. You've seen a hummingbird before I have, even though you're a good ways north of me. Isn't that funny?

Great pictures! We haven't seen any hummers yet this year.

Wow those are great pictures. A couple of neighbor's of mine have mentioned seeing hummers, but I have yet to catch a glimpse this year.

I think I said this somewhere before, but I just don't know how you get these great pictures of hummers. Mine are here and gone so fast I don't even have time to turn my camera on AND take a picture.

Whooo hoooo, Crafty! I must get our feeders out; we saw a hummer down near Annapolis Royal on Saturday, but it's a bit milder there than here. Nice shots, by the way.

Oh thank you for showing those hummer shots. We did see one last week, but I have given up even trying to photgraph them. I do have a large tripod, but not the type of camera with that much zoom. I will just have to see them vicariously through your shots. The rapid fire button is a good idea, though, may give that a try. Yesterday I was kneeling down in the middle of the beds by the azaleas and a hummer nearly fly into my head going for the flower next to it. A large buzzing touched my hair as it whizzed past.

Great photos! When my quince is in bloom at the lake, I must duck when they zoom by but as yet have not captured one with my camera. (Can't live without my tripod).
